A two-year investigation into what makes place-based programs deliver.

I've interviewed 44+ practitioners across state governments, foundations, cities, and international organizations. The pattern that emerged is a framework called The Four Ps: Purpose, People, Priorities, Platform. The essay Beyond Fancy Planning is the first piece of an ongoing series.

Alongside the essay, I am running The Program Line. A series of live sessions where three program leaders bring specific problems they are stuck on, and work through them with an experienced practitioner who has done work like theirs.
